The door shut behind Momi as she stepped out of her apartment, which was really just an attic made into a separate living space from the main house of a friends family. It was a rare thing for Momi to be seen in public wearing anything other than dark dress clothes, but there she was on the back step in a light brown sweater, dark brown track pants, and her hair tied into a messy loop. It had been a long time since she had taken a day off, and in her boredom, she had decided to catch up on a needed jog. She started bouncing on the top platform, a small warm up before taking to the stairs. Two steps down, one step up, repeating the pattern until she made it to the bottom. She could already tell that this work out was long overdue, and decided to take it easy for the first few blocks, jogging at a slow, even pace around to the front of the house, onto the side walk.
The last few days had gone slowly. Paperwork, more paperwork, a meeting, and then more paperwork, about the meeting. Unlike most of the other agents in her office, Momi dealt only in cases with abducted children, as opposed to chasing child pornographers, and others of the like, and luckily there weren't many of them recently. Although this pattern made the days long, and boring, she hoped it continued, and that it was not merely a result of a failure to properly report incidents.
Although it had been weeks since her last run, she small tanned woman followed her regular route like she had been out every day. She rounded corners, and followed paths between roads without really thinking about it, listening to her music player with one ear, and her surroundings with the other, after traveling a few roads over, her body has started to adjust to her speed, and she quickened her pace slightly. Before long, she hit a stop light, jogging in place as she waited for the light to change, and glancing around the intersection, taking in how far she had traveled already, and approximating how much time had passed.
